Job Description

A full-service, 250-bed acute care hospital in Springfield, OH seeks a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for locum tenens coverage beginning May 28. This adult, hospital-based role offers a broad case mix across cardiothoracic, thoracic, and vascular surgery within a high-acuity setting, including a 60-bed ICU and Epic EMR. Assignment details
Start:
May 28, 7:00 AM Initial commitment: continuous coverage for at least two months
Ongoing:
intermittent/sporadic coverage thereafter
Shift:
24-hour call (7:00 AM-7:00 AM) Weekend coverage and on-call duties required Clinical responsibilities Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical coverage for adult inpatients Perform preoperative, perioperative and postoperative management, including inpatient rounding Evaluate and manage acute cardiovascular, thoracic and vascular surgical conditions Collaborate closely with surgical colleagues, ICU teams and hospital staff Manage ventilator support and acute blood pressure/volume issues Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic Required procedures and experience Candidates must be comfortable performing a wide range of adult cardiothoracic and thoracic procedures, including but not limited to: CABG, valvular repair/replacement and congenital defect repairs Aneurysm repair Lung resections, including VATS Chest wall and pleural procedures; esophageal and diaphragm surgery Carotid and renal endarterectomy Bronchoscopy, ventilator management, and acute volume/blood pressure management Qualifications MD or DO with Board Certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery Active Ohio medical license required Current ACLS and BLS certifications This position demands experience managing complex surgical cases and delivering comprehensive perioperative and inpatient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
