In this vital role, you will assist surgeons and healthcare professionals in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, ensuring that every procedure is performed with precision, safety, and efficiency. Your skills in sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and patient care will be essential to delivering exceptional surgical services across a variety of specialties. Responsibilities Assists with the preparation of the operating room for surgical procedures Assists with gowning and gloving members of the surgical team Assists with the care, preparation, maintenance and after-care of sterile and unsterile supplies and equipment. Knows and practices the principles and techniques of sterile/aseptic technique. Handles specimens in accordance with procedures and industry standards. Participates in sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the circulating nurse. Removes drapes at the end of procedures, cleanses the patient of prep solution and applies dressing as needed. Respects patient's privacy, dignity and confidentiality. Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual responsibility. Demonstrates ability to respond to patient care and operating room needs in an emergency situation. Assists with room turnovers. Cleans instruments and equipment after use and returns it to the proper area for cleaning and sterilization. Assists with housekeeping duties as necessary to provide a safe environment. Demonstrates the ability to understand and use various types of equipment used to clean and/or sterilize instrumentation. Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process Performs other duties as may be appropriately required or assigned. Provides clinical skills necessary to provide quality care according to patient's age and stage of growth and development: Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and/or Geriatric.
