Job Description

JOB LOCATION
  • Wilkes-Barre General Hospital
  • OR (3 pm
  • 11 pm) A clinically competent surgical technologist works under the supervision of the registered nurse in delivering safe and effective care to the patient in the intra-operative period.
Effectively interacts with patients and health care team members, while maintaining surgical department standards. Works efficiently with acutely ill patients, including emergency situations.
Position Qualifications Education:
Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program, Associates Degree, and keeps current with surgical procedures. Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes Previous experience preferred. Should possess the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs and care of all patient population. Technical and mechanical ability, manual dexterity, knowledge of surgical procedure and techniques; sound judgment; ability to follow orders and deal with crisis, emergencies and stress situations; interpersonal skills.
Licenses/Certificates:
Current BLS certification, must complete prior to end of orientation period Must meet one of the following requirements upon hire a. Must hold and maintain a certification from an accredited Surgical Technologist program; b. Has successfully completed training in an appropriate Surgical Technology program in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard. c. Employed to practice Surgical Technology, where surgical technology was your primary job, in another health care facility within the past two years; d. Obtain certification within six months of hire.
