Clinical Director, OR Position Summary:
The Laser Surgery Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join our surgical team. This role is responsible for providing hands-on surgical assistance in ophthalmic procedures, including cataract surgery, glaucoma care, blepharoplasty, and other cases. In addition to direct surgical support, this position includes responsibilities in materials management , ensuring that surgical and clinical supplies are properly inventoried, stocked, and available for all procedures. The CST plays a vital role in maintaining sterile technique, supporting the surgical team, managing resources, and ensuring safe and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Scrub Duties:
Prepare operating rooms and maintain sterile fields for all ophthalmic surgical procedures. Scrub in and assist surgeons during cataract, laser, glaucoma, and blepharoplasty cases. Anticipate surgical team needs and respond to intraoperative requirements. Safely handle, manage, and pass surgical instruments and supplies. Adhere strictly to sterile technique and infection control protocols. Prepare OR suites with proper equipment, instrumentation, and supplies prior to each procedure. Assist in room turnover and preparation for subsequent surgical cases.
Sterile Processing & Instrument Care:
Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and trays. Ensure instruments are properly prepared and available for upcoming cases. Maintain full compliance with infection control standards and ASC policies.
Materials Management:
Monitor, order, and maintain surgical and clinical supply inventory. Track usage trends to ensure cost-effective supply management. Verify receipt and quality of supplies, instruments, and equipment. Coordinate with vendors and leadership regarding backorders, shortages, or equipment needs. Maintain organized and accurate inventory systems to support daily operations.
Documentation & Communication:
Accurately document case information, instrument usage, and other required records. Communicate equipment or supply needs and any operational concerns to the Clinical Director. Maintain clear and proactive communication with surgical staff and leadership to ensure smooth daily operations.
Qualifications:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required. Minimum 2 years of experience as a surgical scrub technician, preferably with ophthalmic surgery experience. Experience or interest in materials management highly preferred. Strong knowledge of ophthalmic surgical procedures, instrumentation, sterile technique, and infection control. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented surgical environment. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Physical ability to lift and move supplies and equipment as necessary. Must pass a background check for employment at an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in the state of Texas.
Additional Information:
This role has no supervisory responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned to support the operational needs of the ASC. Pay:
$30.59 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 36 per week
