WORK HOURS
0.7-0.9 FTE Monday to Friday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 8-10 hour shift options available. No nights, weekends, holidays, or call.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

): Performs surgical team functions, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse/Physician, to deliver patient care and assume appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgical procedures. Prepares/maintains supplies, instruments, equipment, and rooms for surgical procedures. Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and the role of a scrub tech. Exhibits competency in area of practice. Recognizes safety hazards and initiates appropriate corrective and/or preventive measures. Maintains confidentiality of patient and organization related information. Supports the Surgery Center environment by acknowledging the presence and dignity of all with whom he/she communicates. Interacts with diverse populations who may be under considerable situational stress. Participates in and supports the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Participates in task forces and committees as assigned. Makes changes on surgeons' preference cards when necessary. Adds equipment, instrumentation when needed. Access to computer system to make any patient changes as on an as needed basis. Demonstrates willingness to learn and accept changes. Adheres to standard precautions.
SKILLS NEEDED
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and charting documentation. Basic computer skills as well as some basic knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software. Promote teamwork, work efficiently, and be flexible with schedules/assignments. Demonstrate ability to provide quality patient care.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Graduate of a recognized surgical technology program required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Certified as a Surgical Technologist preferred, but not required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Two years minimum surgical tech experience (orthopedic preferred). Knowledge and experience of sterile processing department preferred.
