Job Description
Job Summary With a patient centered culture, the Surgical Technologist will provide a positive experience to customers by providing surgeons with instruments and supplies, preparation of the sterile field, passing instruments, and verifying sponge, needles and instrument count. The Technician has an understanding of the surgical procedure and anticipates needs of the surgeon to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure. This role will provide a positive experience to the communities we serve through direct and indirect total nursing care of the patient and clerical support of the nursing unit. All duties are performed within OSHA, The Joint Commission, AORN, and department policies and procedures. Responsibilities Equipment Skills Demonstrates essential skills to use all equipment connected to job responsibilities to provide clinical excellence one patient at a time. Job Skills Possesses the job skills and knowledge to perform the job in a competent team oriented manner. The skills are demonstrated in day-to-day situations to provide clinical excellence one patient at a time. Planning Allocates appropriate instruments and supplies for each case to provide extraordinary patient care and clinical excellence one patient at a time. Safety Understands every safety practice expected by Mon Health. The individual must engage in practices that decrease the risk of accidents, injuries or equipment failures. Technical Skills Possesses the technical skills and knowledge required to perform essential tasks in an efficient and effective manner to provide clinical excellence one patient at a time Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program or a LPN/Surgical Technician with previous surgical scrubbing experience; experience normally acquired through on-the-job training in an OR setting is preferred.
