Makes notes of irregular rhythm and monitor changes in heartbeats and notifies appropriate staff of any abnormal findings. The Monitor technician ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Qualifications High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Completion of Certified Basic Arrhythmias Interpretation Program. Responsibility Highlights Continually observe telemetry monitors. Interpret and document heart rhythm; rate and intervals at specific times of the day; and any changes in status of the patient according to department standards. Report all arrhythmias to the nurse or appropriate staff promptly and in accordance with department policies and procedures. Notify nurse or appropriate staff of observed changes (i.e. rate, rhythm, etc.) obtained via strips. Communicate to nurse or appropriate staff current EKG information. Routinely change patient's electrodes and adjust bed to ensure most optimal QRS configuration on the monitor. Instruct the patient as these changes are being made and the purpose of the changes.
