Full Time Days, 36 hours per week, 6a-6p, rotating weekends and holidays Job Summary and Qualifications The Monitor Technician delivers high quality, patient-centered care by maintaining close observation of patient electrocardiograph monitor output. The Telemetry Technician observes, interprets, and records cardiac telemetry tracings at a central monitoring station and alerts the designated nurse and/or care team member of changes in patient condition. The Telemetry Technician possesses knowledge of dysrhythmia interpretation and utilizes effective communication with unit personnel and interdisciplinary team members. What will you do in this role : Performs continuous observation of cardiac telemetry monitors according to hospital policies and procedures. Interprets, documents, and reports data from telemetry monitor systems. Utilizes proper leads for arrhythmia detections unless otherwise indicated. Assists in optimal lead placement when interference is noted. Ensures appropriate heart rate and arrhythmia alarm limits; adjusts limits after validating parameters with responsible nurse and provider order. Prepares, runs, documents, and analyzes rhythm strips on all patients according to unit standards. Notifies primary caregiver of any changes in patient rhythm, rate, pulse oximetry, signal interference or loss, lead connection issues, and need for assessment of patient, as outlined by facility policy. Initiates appropriate codes through emergency response channels immediately when life-threatening dysrhythmias occur. Answers telephone promptly with proper identification and relays all information appropriately, accurately, and professionally. Maintains an hourly log of each patient's cardiac rate and rhythm as well as unit logs and other documentation systems as directed. Prepares shift report for telemetry technician shift handoff following department procedure, including baseline rhythm and any changes. Maintains telemetry equipment, including setup for patients, cleaning/disinfecting units after use, clearing and/or merging memory, coordinating equipment maintenance, and unit tracking and inventory. Maintains supply inventory for monitoring area. Acts as a resource for staff with remote telemetry patients. What qualifications do you need :
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 of start date
