Physical Requirements The ability to perform the duties and responsibility of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations for disabilities. The ability to consistently lift, push or pull loads of up to fifty (50) pounds. (Unless nursing 50) Sufficient strength, mobility and stamina to make frequent location and position changes, assist with patient care, and perform other physical activities of average difficulty. Must be able to hear clearly with assistance. Working Conditions Primarily Works in a well-lighted and air-conditioned environment with period of heavy workload and stress. This role may include working in less-than-ideal home conditions, which can include exposure to extreme temperatures and environments that may not meet typical cleanliness standards such as clutter, unkept surfaces, and homes with pets. N/A Performance:
Position Specific Essential Functions Demonstrates the essential skills related to the use of all telemetry equipment connected to job responsibilities. Displays an appropriate level of concern for various patient and staff safety factors when using equipment. The Video Sitter demonstrates accurate knowledge and skill to carry out job duties. Follows departmental work policies and procedures. Displays speed and consistency of output, and time utilization of job duties. Monitors patient at risk for safety concerns remotely. Accurately collects and documents patient data as assigned. Reviews documentation for accuracy at end of shift. Notifies licensed staff of abnormal findings and changes in patient status. Performs bedside sitter duties on nursing units as needed. The Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient monitors on multiple floors and settings. Interpret and document rhythm strips at regular intervals in monitoring system. Provides registered nurses and clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The Monitoring technician completes the admission set-up of telemetry monitors for the clinical units and performs monitor discharge and maintenance. Coordinates and maintains specialized advanced technical skills, monitoring patients ECG rhythms, interpreting results, and communicating effectively with the healthcare team as determined by department procedure. Works collaboratively with all team members to include staff, physicians, ancillary departments and patient/families. Demonstrates a positive attitude and good communication. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Experience:
Required for all Completion of on-the-job training in Central Monitoring Central Monitoring Sitter Video sitter can perform the primary duties of the position in Central Monitoring that they were hired to fill as a general sitter and 1:1 sitter with patient daily with minimal supervision
Certification/Licensure:
Central Monitoring Sitter Required Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
