An Ultrasound Technologist or Sonographer uses ultrasound technology to examine the inside of patients' bodies and diagnose medical conditions. Works closely with other healthcare specialists who assess and treat relevant conditions. Works in hospitals or other healthcare facilities.
Provides diagnostic radiographs and performs imaging procedures in accordance with established parameters. Provides continuity of patient care. Assists Radiologist with procedures. Do:
Takes radiographic exposures appropriate to procedure. Prepares patient, room and equipment for procedure. Collects history data from patient and provides patient education. Provides patient cares in accordance with department policy. Provides radiologist pertinent information for interpretation. Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive manner with other departments, physicians and students. Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures. Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include: Birth-28 days: Neonate 1-18

Graduate of an accredited program inRadiography. Must have valid Iowa permit to practice. Registered Technologist (Radiography) by ARRT. Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability. Personal computer. Ability to work with a large degree of independence. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to use independent judgment to solve problems. Ability to perform office procedures when needed. Knowledge of imaging techniques for routine diagnostic radiographic examinations. CR, DR, and PACS computer knowledge. Understand and demonstrate a commitment to customer service expectations at all times.
