Job Description
ULTRASONOGRAPHER
(ECHO)Job Summary:
Performs echocardiography, stress echo, pharmacological stress testing echocardiograms, and TEE echocardiograms. Must be able to work effectively with area cardiologists. Also, will assist in performing EKGs and stress EKGs, as needed.Essential Functions:
Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives. Accurately performs all echocardiography procedures common to Oaklawn. Explains ultrasound procedures to patients and answer questions. Transports patients as needed. Performs the ultrasound ensuring the transducer is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed. Evaluates images for quality. Interprets what is captured in the image. Presents images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team.Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of accredited school of ultrasound with Registry in echocardiography and/or an intern student graduating within three (3) months; must obtain an appropriate credential within one year from the date of graduation. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
One (1) year experience in all acute care diagnostic echo procedures preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS certification, preferred. Experience in cardiac stress testing and TEE. Must have excellent communication skills with staff and physicians; able to work independently and as a team.Working Conditions:
Casual Echo Techs must either work or be available one weekend 24-hour rotation each month. Must share on-call weekend coverage on a rotational basis to cover all weekends. Potentially exposed to infectious disease.Physical Requirements:
