POSITION SUMMARY/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The position of Medical Imaging Sonographer under the direction of the Radiologist, Medical Staff and management performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations as directed by the Medical Staff. The Medical Imaging Sonographer spends 75% of time providing direct patient care with 25% of time allocated to clerical, administrative, Quality Assurance and educational responsibilities.
MENTAL/VISUAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position of Medical Imaging Sonographer must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, have manual dexterity sufficient to assist patients and operate equipment, as well as the ability to hear the spoken word, read the written word, view the necessary clinical and/or clerical information and verbalize appropriately.
PATIENT SENSITIVITY
The Medical Imaging Sonographer requires the knowledge, skills and appropriate care interventions that relate to the unique physical, motor/sensory, cognitive, and psycho/social needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations in a confidential manner.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The Medical Imaging Sonographer must be ARDMS registry eligible. The Sonographer must have certificate of completion from a medical sonography program that is supported by the
ARDMS. ARDMS
registered preferred within 18 months of hire. BLS required within 30 days of hire.

ARRT/NYS
license is acceptable with a credentialed breast certificate •
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
The position of Medical Imaging Sonographer requires technical competency in all areas of ultrasound performance relating to the clinical demands.
PROBLEM-SOLVING
The position of Medical Imaging Sonographer requires the skills necessary to assess both clinical and non-clinical demands through a broad knowledge and experience base to consistently make appropriate patient-oriented decisions.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS
The position of Medical Imaging Sonographer is required to cooperate fully in the development of constructive relationships with all hospital employees, both within and outside the department, with patients and others with whom contacts are made while performing primary job functions.
PLANNING
The position of Medical Imaging Sonographer is required to plan concurrent patient-oriented courses of action to complete necessary examination. Daily planning of resources including equipment and supply needs.
Pay Range:
$38.45
  • 54.
86 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
