Job Description

Mercy seeks a PRN Sonographer to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams and support exceptional patient care. In this role, you will prepare and position patients, operate advanced imaging equipment, and capture accurate images for physician interpretation. You will collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and providers to coordinate care, maintain detailed documentation, and follow safety and infection-control standards. Responsibilities Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to physician orders and protocols Prepare and position patients, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort and safety Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring image quality and proper settings Document and label images accurately for physician review and diagnosis Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and clinical staff to coordinate patient care Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards Maintain accurate patient records and exam documentation in the EMRParticipate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives Provide on call or flexible PRN coverage as needed Required Skills Diagnostic medical sonography Ultrasound equipment operation Patient positioning and prep Anatomy and physiology knowledge Image quality optimization
