Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinationsQualifications:
Required:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of an AccreditedUltrasoundSchool. ARDMS Certification required. Must be CPR certified.Preferred:
Minimumthree yearsexperience in a hospital setting performing the following preferred:Abdomen, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Thyroid, Vascular, Pediatric,Biopsiesand Interventional Procedures.
RVT Essential Functions:
- Screen requisitions to ensure proper exams are being ordered and proper prep is called to the Nurse taking care of the patient.
- Ensure proper work flow is being maintained.
- Maintain positive relationship between Radiologist and sonographers.
- Assist Lead Technologist and Supervisor in the day to day operation.
- Primary person ensuring proper steps are taken in the documentation process of ultrasound exams (tracking/dictation of exam in timely manner).
- Initiate service calls and documents.
- Train fellow sonographers and students with complex and/or new techniques. Age-Specific Competency
- Applies the knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.
- Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his or her assigned unit, i.e. Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
- Assesses data reflective of each patient's status and interprets information needed in order to identify each patient's age requirements relative to his or her age specific health care needs.
- Abides by standards established by the hospital, state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Assists supervisor with review of co-workers sonograms to ensure that they are following departmental policy.
