Mercy is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams, ensure patient safety and comfort, and collaborate closely with physicians and clinical staff to support accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. You will maintain imaging equipment, follow established protocols, and document procedures in accordance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to physician orders and established Mercy protocols. Prepare, position, and educate patients to ensure comfort, safety, and understanding throughout the procedure. Operate and optimize ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images, adjusting technical factors as necessary. Recognize and document normal and abnormal findings and communicate urgent or critical results to the appropriate provider. Accurately document procedures and patient information in the electronic medical record and ensure images are properly stored in PACS. Adhere to infection prevention, radiation-free safety, and organizational policies, maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Collaborate with radiologists, clinicians, nurses, and other team members to support coordinated, patient-centered care. Assist with equipment care, basic troubleshooting, and reporting of malfunctions, ensuring exam rooms are prepared and adequately stocked. Participate in quality assurance, process improvement, and accreditation-related activities within the imaging department. Support training and orientation of new staff or students as requested, promoting Mercy's culture of compassion, respect, and continuous learning.
