Rotating daylight hours, Monday through Friday! Five 8-hour shifts (start times between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.) or four 10-hour shifts (7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) available! Rotating on-call for nights, weekends, and holiday coverage at UPMC Children's Hospital and UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital. Occasional, rotating travel may be required to other UPMC Children's locations for specialized coverage support, including Wexford, Bridgeville, and/or Monroeville. Occasional coverage in Johnstown, Washington, Erie, and/or Sharon may be possible, as well. Now is an exciting time to join our Cardiology Echocardiography Department, a specialized Pediatric and Congenital Heart Imaging program supporting outpatient, inpatient, and procedural areas! The Pediatric Echocardiographer position is integral to providing high‑quality diagnostic Echocardiography, supporting on‑call coverage, and collaborating with an experienced multidisciplinary care team. In this role, you will contribute to efficient workflow, patient safety, and ongoing quality and educational initiatives within a highly collaborative Pediatric Cardiac program. Perform full range of echocardiography examinations and studies (two-dimensional imaging and Doppler) on children with heart disease, as well as diagnostic portable echocardiographic studies independently. Perform miscellaneous laboratory duties (maintain supplies and equipment, pull and key echo studies, etc.) and clerical duties (patient logbooks, patient billing, etc.). Identify four interesting cases, one simple shunt, one simple stenosis, and one complex lesion case (as defined by the divisional director) per quarter and log these cases into the Sonographer QA binder. Must be able to provide on-call, overtime, and weekend coverage, as well as support examinations at the main campus, satellite, and/or any outreach location(s). Work with all makes of equipment and explore new procedures and technology. Provide guidance and instruction to less experienced scanners (cardiac sonographers, ultrasound students, cardiology fellows) to improve their imaging skills. Review patient's medical history to determine what echocardiographic information is needed, and work with patients and their families to secure cooperation.Similar jobs in Pittsburgh, PA
