Job Description Position Title - Ultrasound Technologist- Emergency Room Reports to : Manager Position Goals This job description for the Ultrasound Technologist at Patients ER and Hospital provides criteria for the evaluation in performance, attitude and discipline. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for the provision of ultrasonic diagnostic procedures to patients according to physicians' orders and protocols. This Clinical position requires skills and experience in providing patient safety and providing high quality testing. The Ultrasound Technologist at Patients ER and Hospital will strive to provide proficient, competent care while maintaining the patient's sense of comfort, dignity and rights. Position Responsibilities The Ultrasound Technologist at Patients ER and Hospital will be responsible for: 1. Operating ultrasound equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the Radiologist. 2. Proficiently perform ultrasound procedures for the diagnostic purposes in the emergency department and other areas. 3. Utilize Infection Control principles when performing exams. 4. Maintain all policy and procedures in sterilizing transducers and logging all documentation for quality and infection control programs. 5. Act collaboratively with Radiologist staff to provide appropriate procedure data and communicate effectively with technical and medical staff. 6. Appropriately and completely enter all required data into
PACS/EMR
systems. 7. Exhibits technical knowledge and expertise of the job when collaborating with physician, nurses, and patients. 8. Communicating effectively with co-workers, patients and families. 9. Maintaining professionalism in the job performance and practices. 10. Adhering to the guiding principles and policies set forth by Patients Emergency Room. 11. Completing all technical skills check off, showing competency in skills necessary to assist in the daily operations of Patient's Emergency Room. 12. All other duties as assigned Position Requirements The requirements for employment with Patients ER and Hospital are: Current certification with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certification (ARDMS) Minimum 1-3 years of experience in related field. CPR certification Maintains level of continuing education, collaborative training and interactions in radiology field. Preferred OB and Vascular experience Physical Demands Standing and walking Twisting Lifting and Carrying Bending/Stooping Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., with assistance Working with chemicals Working near Radiation sources Potential exposure to communicable diseases Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
