Job Summary and Qualifications The Sonographer II performs diagnostic testing on both inpatient and outpatient basis to include 2 D/M- Mode to cardiac Doppler, stress echo, contrast echo's, cardiac stress testing, TEE's, and ECG's. Recognizes symptoms of cardiac arrest, respiratory distress and/or other impending crisis and initiates the necessary emergency response. Communicates with physicians and accepts verbal orders. Set up and performs all types of cardiac ultrasound and nuclear cardiology studies. Performs necessary measurements and calculations related to the result of the Echocardiogram. Documents exams in logbook, prepares exam tracing for physician review, and interprets and enters appropriate charge into Meditech. Orders supplies for Echo lab and coordinates day to day operations of lab. Determines which test(s) to perform from a referring physician when appropriate. Exercises independent judgement and decisions to modify tests as patient's condition dictates to enhance the quality of information available to physicians. • Participates in On-Call Program to assure availability of a specialist PRN. Assesses patient conditions prior to and during all exams. Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or (RDCS) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or (RCS) Registered Cardiac Sonographer Associate Degree, or Certificate, or Work Experience in lieu of Degree No Travel Required
