A Veterinarian provides medical care to animals. Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries. Description:
EQUINE VETERINARY TECHNICIAN AMBULATORY
- Arcata Region Loomis Basin Equine Medical Group Overview Support doctors in the field in all areas of equine proactive and emergency medical care. The Veterinary Technician (large animal) provides technical assistance to the Doctors in the field for all types of medical appointments. The position supports the doctor through proactive readiness for each appointment and assisting with on-site medical needs with the patient. The position will also support lab work needs at the clinic. The position is a relief - alternate back-up position as required per the needs of the practice. Shift schedule will vary bi-weekly.
Key Responsibilities:
Support doctors in the field in all areas of equine proactive and emergency medical care. Provide veterinary tech support to the doctors on site for all equine health client site visits. Proactively support the offsite needs of the clinic and Ambo vehicles including ensuring daily product supply, materials and equipment needs are met. Provide Veterinary Technician support by assisting doctors with medical procedures including prep and post care. Patient handling including horses of varying temperaments. Assist with sedation, radiology, soundness evaluations, dentals, general medical assessments, emergencies, basic lab work and pharmacy requirements. (Perform basic lab procedures, sterilizing and cleaning). Support the doctor with client communications and customer service. Provide basic client educational support. Works with DVM on running lab panels and reporting results into our software. Reports errors with the LBEMG (main clinic) lab department. Follow proper PPE protocols when handling and disposing of samples

Requirements:
Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma, Vet Tech Certification a plus or equivalent experience. Two years support experience as a Vet Technician. Basic computer skills. Lab work and lab process familiarity. Lift up to 30 lbs. 2 years of general equine experience, handling horses with some basic equine medical knowledge.
