We are seeking a Veterinarian—whether experienced or a recent graduate—who is looking for a supportive, community-focused practice to call home. Why Companion Animal Medical Center? Led by Dr. Kelly Tarkington, our hospital is known for delivering high-quality medicine with heart. We provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care while remaining deeply rooted in our local community. Our doctors enjoy a diverse caseload, including urgent and emergency walk-ins (no routine walk-ins), which adds professional variety without the burnout of overnight or on-call work. Community service is core to who we are. We proudly care for local police K9s and fire department therapy dogs, collaborate with the Visalia Feral Cat Coalition, partner with the local SPCA and rescue organizations, and honor euthanasia patients with memorial donations to the SPCA. Our Hospital & Medicine 100% small animal practice (open to reintroducing exotics in the future). 5 exam rooms. Dedicated surgical suite with room for expansion. Strong focus on dentistry and soft tissue surgery (mass removals, splenectomy, cystotomy, and more). Digital X-ray, therapeutic cold laser, cutting laser. Recently upgraded dental and laser therapy units. Future plans for ultrasound and dental radiographs. Supportive Team & Culture Collaborative environment with experienced leadership and support staff. Goal of 2-3 technicians/assistants per doctor. Mentorship includes:

Shadowing and gradual case ramp-up. Shortened schedules to build confidence. Supportive, hands-on guidance from leadership and fellow doctors. Schedule & Flexibility No weekends.
