Job Description

The Opportunity:
Veterinarian The Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) is seeking a full-time associate veterinarian to join the veterinary professionals in our recently renovated veterinary hospital. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who values a community-facing practice and desires to deliver high-quality medicine in a mission-driven setting. We are seeking candidates who are available to work at least 30 hours per week. Are you looking for a veterinary practice where you can provide thoughtful, individualized care plans, and work collaboratively with clients to meet their pets' medical needs? Are you ready for the opportunity to offer a range of treatment options while expanding access to care for the community? Our full-service, non-profit veterinary hospital has served the community since 1997 and has grown to an 8-doctor practice. We are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, contextualized care to both owned pets and animals in our shelter. This position is primarily focused on the community or public practice of the hospital, supporting clients experiencing a range of circumstances including those who may benefit from affordable care options. Visit our hospital's webpage for additional information. Our veterinary professionals see a diverse caseload that includes a wide variety of medical conditions, behavioral challenges, backgrounds, and living environments. This offers veterinarians the opportunity to strengthen their diagnostic and clinical skills while working alongside a collaborative and supportive team. The variety of cases encourages thoughtful problem-solving and teamwork across all hospital roles. If you value a collaborative, team approach, partnering with clients in a variety of situations, and purposeful, yet challenging work, we encourage you to apply and learn more about joining our team! The veterinary team and associate veterinarians work closely with the chief hospital and chief shelter veterinarian. This role reports directly to the chief veterinarian of the hospital and helps guide and support the veterinary support team including registered veterinary technicians, veterinary students, shelter patient services personnel, client service staff, and volunteers. At HSBV, we are committed to being an employer of choice by creating an environment where employees continue to learn and thrive. This is not just a belief but reflected in our strong employee retention. We encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups including but not limited to members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, people with disabilities, and veterans. Position Summary Provides medical services for hospital clients - approximately 80% of the time. Provides medical services to animals housed in the shelter - approximately 20% of the time. Conducts physical examinations, diagnostics, treatment, and medical documentation for pets of clients in our public practice. Ensures client communications are documented, obtains informed consent from clients for procedures. Creates, delivers, and discusses estimates for non-routine care.
