Job Description

As an Emergency Veterinarian at inkwell, you'll be the doctor on the floor of an emergency clinic where our people are the priority. Our philosophy is that medicine is at its best when it comes from a team that feels supported and empowered. You will be working closely with your team to triage, work up cases, stabilize, and treat dogs and cats in a transparent, welcoming space. This is emergency medicine; it just doesn't feel like it does elsewhere.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with veterinary technicians and assistants to guide the care of dogs and cats in an emergency setting. Educate pet owners about clinic protocols, treatment options, and post-care instructions to empower informed decision-making. Perform minor sedated or anesthetized procedures, such as wound repairs, unblocking, and enucleations; stabilize and transfer anything that belongs in an operating room. Strive for high level, gold standard medicine while being flexible and adapting to what 'gold standard' may look like for each patient. Elevate the patient experience by providing compassionate care and support to both animals and their owners during stressful situations. Manage hospitalized patients in conjunction with a healthy outpatient caseload. Work cases up on a full in-house bench: IDEXX analyzers (blood gases, ionized calcium, coags), Imagyst digital cytology, digital radiography, and Samsung ultrasound. Foster a collaborative, team-first culture and actively support the growth of the people around you. Adapt to the challenges and variability that come with being a small, privately owned emergency clinic.
Qualifications:
Significant emergency experience earned within a specialty/referral or dedicated emergency center is a must. Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of performing high-level emergency care in a mostly outpatient facility. Valid Colorado veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain) and DEA registration. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. A genuine compassion for animals and their owners, reflecting our commitment to local community care.
Schedule:
Full-time is 12 shifts per 4-week block (or 13 shifts/month) Mix of 10- and 12-hour shifts. Closed Tuesdays; weekends in the rotation; no overnight shifts expected. Part-time available — built around the shift count that fits you.
Benefits:
