A Veterinarian provides medical care to animals. Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries. Specializes in treating either pets and small domesticated animals, or large animals and livestock, or wild animals. May work on farms, in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, in animal shelters, or in hospitals or clinics that specialize in caring for animals. May inspect livestock used for food and check compliance with food safety regulations, or work in laboratories doing clinical research on animal and human diseases.

Job Description

Backstretch Veterinary is currently looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join our growing team! We are an ambulatory practice covering the greater Boston area with periodic trips to Martha's Vineyard. There's an emphasis on Sports Medicine but we also pride ourselves on providing excellent general care for all horses and their owners from the high level sport horses to the backyard retirees. We are fully equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, shockwave, class 4 cold laser, video gastroscopy/endoscopy, dental equipment, acupuncture/chiropractic, and IRAP/PRP/Prostride. We are currently a two doctor practice with excellent support staff. The position will include a fully stocked practice vehicle, 1/3 on call time (1-2 days per week and 1-2 weekends a month with rotating holidays - flexible scheduling), licensing fees, liability insurance, health insurance, CE stipend, membership dues, 4 day work week with the possibility for a part time position, 10 working days (2 weeks) vacation, sick days, and 100% emergency fee included. Retirement benefits are offered after the first year of employment. Salary is commensurate with experience. Plenty of support and mentoring is provided by our experienced veterinarians and through our relationships with many local specialists.
