Job Description

Cox Ranch is looking to fill a position for a full-time day shift veterinarian technician. Qualifications The position requires at least 3 to 5 years of vet tech experience and working as a team. Must be able to administer medications IV/IM/orally, take temperatures, perform physical exams. Excellent communication skills - verbally and written . Must be willing to be on call after normal business hours for equine emergencies. Must be willing to work long hours during breeding and foaling season. Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions, when necessary. Experience in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word and Excel, and Google Sheets. Experience with Wise Option software preferred. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Responsible for maintaining a high standard of animal welfare. Coordinating care with management for 200-400 horses to include broodmares, recipient mares, foals, yearlings, retired racehorses and ranch geldings. Monitoring the health of the animals, determining proper treatment based on condition, health and weight of horses, address issues and/or contact vet or transport to the vet clinic as needed. Ensure horses receive treatments, medications, vaccinations and worming as scheduled. Monitor and maintain feed schedule, turn-out and pasture rotation Halter breaking and leading foals and yearlings, loading in trailers, grooming, working with horses in the round pen, teaching them to go on the horse walker, handling the horses for the farrier and training other team members how to handle the horses. Keep and maintain accurate and detailed records for all animals. Must be willing to help in other areas if needed - cleaning stalls, feeding horses, etc. Housing available.
