Job Description

Overview:
What if your veterinary career gave you the opportunity to practice high-quality medicine, perform meaningful surgery, and make a real impact on patients - all while being part of a supportive, privately owned team that genuinely values you? At Summit Veterinary Care, we're a locally owned, veterinarian-owned and operated practice in Bristow, VA building something very intentional: a place where medicine is gold-standard, Fear Free principles guide our patient care, and team members are supported as individuals, not just employees. We're not a corporate hospital. We're independently owned by veterinarians who believe exceptional patient care starts with taking care of the people providing it. That means your voice matters, your growth is encouraged, and your contributions directly shape the future of our practice. We're looking for an adaptable, compassionate veterinarian who enjoys urgent care medicine and is confident in surgery. While this role includes some general practice opportunities, we're especially excited to find someone who would enjoy spending a significant portion of their time helping urgent care patients and performing surgical procedures.
Why Summit Veterinary Care:
Practice Great Medicine We pride ourselves on providing gold-standard medical care while maintaining the flexibility and autonomy that often gets lost in larger corporate settings. You'll have the support, equipment, and collaborative environment needed to practice medicine the way it should be practiced. A Surgery & Urgent Care Opportunity If you enjoy solving challenging cases, helping pets when they need care most, and utilizing your surgical skills, this position offers the opportunity to focus heavily on urgent care and surgery while still maintaining variety in your caseload. Fear Free, Patient-First Care We're proud to prioritize Fear Free techniques and low-stress handling, creating a better experience for our patients, clients, and team members alike. If you're not already Fear Free Certified, we'll support you in obtaining certification. Professional Growth & Collaboration As a growing practice, we're committed to helping our veterinarians continue developing their skills and interests. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues in an environment that values collaboration, continuing education, and mentorship. A Workplace That Treats You Like a Person We believe great veterinary medicine happens when great people are supported. We foster strong communication, mutual respect, and work-life balance. When one team member needs support, the entire team shows up. Sometimes that means helping each other through a difficult shift. Sometimes it means supporting a colleague through challenges outside of work. We celebrate each other's successes, help carry the load during difficult times, and genuinely care about the people we work alongside every day. We also make time for connection beyond medicine. From fitness challenges and book clubs to movie nights and the occasional rage room outing, we believe a strong team is built on more than just working together - it's built on knowing and supporting each other.
