With an average of only 5-7 appointments per doctor per day, you'll have the opportunity to practice medicine thoughtfully and intentionally. Schedule:
Full-time or part-time opportunities available 9:45 AM•6:00 PM shifts Flexible shift times possible with discussion
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Active Virginia Veterinarian license DEA license Authorization to work in the United States Any additional licensure or registrations required to practice veterinary medicine in Virginia, including prescription monitoring program exemption registration Minimum of 2 years of veterinary clinical practice experience preferred Valid driver's license and ability to travel to appointments in a company-provided vehicle Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate laboratory results, treatment recommendations, and follow-up plans clearly and efficiently with clients Ability to provide timely follow-up communication regarding diagnostics and patient care Ability to write thorough, accurate, and client-friendly discharge instructions Ability to utilize electronic medical records, smartphones, GPS systems, tablets, and basic computer systems Ability to complete Fear Free Certification within the first 3 months of employment if not already certified (provided at company expense) Commitment to maintaining required continuing education and licensure Ability to maintain personal liability insurance as required
Education:
DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, or otherwise move 40 pounds Dependable attendance required Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach throughout an 8-10 hour workday Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate medical records and interpret written information (reasonable accommodations available upon request) Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone (reasonable accommodations available upon request) Fine motor skills necessary to utilize veterinary medical equipment including syringes, laboratory equipment, radiology equipment, computers, clippers, IV catheters, and other equipment required to perform the duties of a veterinarian
Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive examinations and medical evaluations for canine and feline patients Provide wellness, preventative, medical, and end-of-life care Interpret cytology samples including ear, skin, and fine needle aspirates Interpret laboratory results and communicate findings and recommendations to clients in a timely manner Write clear and comprehensive discharge instructions for clients Maintain prompt client communication regarding diagnostic results, treatment plans, and follow-up care Maintain thorough and accurate SOAP medical records Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement Communicate treatment plans, diagnostics, and follow-up recommendations effectively Respond to client questions and provide ongoing medical guidance Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent patient care and client service Provide compassionate euthanasia and end-of-life support when needed No surgery required
Compensation and Benefits:
