Atwater, CA Job Details Full-time $40 - $55 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications Heavy equipment operation Caterpillar Air brake Full Job Description Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy machinery used in large-scale construction projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment, including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, and other industrial machinery. You will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently. Your expertise will help keep projects on schedule and uphold the highest standards of safety and performance. Duties Must Have knowledge of CAT Equipment Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction equipment such as excavators, cranes, bulldozers, and loaders using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals and schematics. Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, hydraulic system servicing, and engine tune-ups to maximize equipment lifespan. Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, soldering, and hand tools to meet specific project needs or repair requirements. Troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC components, and other mechanical elements to identify faults accurately. Operate heavy machinery for testing purposes after repairs to ensure optimal functioning and safety compliance. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance performed on each piece of equipment. Assist with tire service, alignment adjustments, heavy lifting tasks, and assembly/disassembly of machinery components as needed. Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with heavy construction equipment or industrial machinery; dealership experience is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of OEM specifications, schematics interpretation, and automotive diagnostics tools. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiar with power tools and hand tools for various repair tasks. Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, farm machinery, and other heavy equipment. Mechanical knowledge covering transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, diesel engines, brake repair, tire service and alignment. Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients about repairs and maintenance needs. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely; comfortable working in outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
