$25-$35 an hour Job Description This role offers the opportunity to operate a variety of heavy equipment on commercial remediation and drilling projects based out of Old Bridge, NJ. You will primarily run excavators and dozers using both CAT and DEERE controls, while also supporting your crew with ground work as needed. The position begins as a 6‑month contract-to-hire, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment, with a primary focus on excavators and dozers, to move soil and other materials safely and efficiently. Use both CAT and DEERE control systems on excavators and adjust to different machine configurations as required. Assist with loading and unloading heavy equipment on trailers to support mobilization between job sites. Support the crew on the ground when not operating equipment, including general construction and site tasks related to commercial remediation and drilling. Follow all safety procedures and regulatory requirements, including those related to hazardous waste operations. Work collaboratively with a crew of 2-5 people, coordinating tasks to ensure projects stay on schedule. Inspect equipment before and after use, reporting any issues to maintain safe and reliable operation. Adapt to changing site conditions and instructions from supervisors to complete project objectives. Essential Skills Proficiency operating excavators, including the ability to use both CAT and DEERE control systems. Proficiency operating dozers in a construction or remediation environment. Experience working with heavy equipment in construction, remediation, or similar field settings. Ability to assist with ground work and general construction tasks in addition to equipment operation. Capability to work safely in outdoor environments with varying and sometimes harsh weather conditions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience loading and unloading heavy equipment on trailers. Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as skid steers, backhoes, and other HEO equipment. Possession of a CDL Class A license is a strong plus. Experience in commercial remediation and drilling projects is beneficial.
