Heavy Equipment Operator

Sets up and operates a production machine (Excavator and or Loader) in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. High school diploma or its equivalent is preferred. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-5 years of experience in construction or in a related area. May lead and direct the work of others. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a Working Foreman, Site Foreman, or Operator III. All G.W. Brooks Employees may be asked to take on other responsibilities differing from their set job description. G.W. Brooks Employees will have a physical demand of exerting heavy physical effort in doing tasks such as; frequently lifting and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds without assistance. Objects include but are not limited to signs, tools, pipe, frames and grates, and other construction materials. Must be able to push, pull, or drag objects weighing up 150 pounds without assistance. Able to perform strenuous labor in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
