Position Summary The Operator/Driver will operate power-driven ditching and excavation equipment to dig trenches for pipelines and perform various field and mechanical duties. This position requires mechanical aptitude, equipment operation experience, and the ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery. The Operator/Driver may also assist with installation and dismantling of equipment, handle materials, and perform general construction duties as needed. What You'll Do Operate equipment including backhoes, trenchers, excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, and similar machinery
Use small motorized and hand tools such as chainsaws, jackhammers, and hydraulic tools
Inspect, maintain, and safely operate assigned equipment, performing basic maintenance and field repairs as needed
Avoid hazards such as underground utilities, overhead lines, and falling objects
Follow all regional and company safety policies and procedures, participating in safety training and compliance activities
Communicate clearly with team members using verbal and non-verbal hand signals while operating machinery
Work around hazardous equipment, energized parts, and in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, and noise)
May be exposed to traffic, poisonous plants, reptiles, and stinging insects
Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies as needed
Maintain required logs and reports and ensure all work complies with safety standards
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor This job summary is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this position. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. What We're Looking For Valid Texas CDL Class A or B Driver's License with air brakes endorsement required
Minimum of 3 years' experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, excavators, skid steers, and bulldozers
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to make minor field repairs
Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
Ability to follow directions from supervisors and work cooperatively with others
Physical strength and endurance to perform labor-intensive tasks, including lifting, climbing, and extended standing or operating periods
Ability to maintain attention and concentration for extended durations due to the hazardous nature of the work
Must pass a background check, motor vehicle records check, and DOT physical to obtain a DOT medical card
Must be able to wear and maintain required PPE at all times
