Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Driver RM Steel Buildings Alma, KS 66401 Full-time Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Driver to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a variety of heavy machinery and trucks to support construction projects, ensuring efficient and precise execution of tasks. Your expertise will help drive project success, maintain safety standards, and uphold our commitment to quality workmanship. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and contribute to impactful infrastructure development. Responsibilities Safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and horizontal drilling machinery to perform site preparation, grading, excavation, and material handling. Drive and manage dump trucks, tanker trucks, and other commercial vehicles to transport materials and equipment across construction sites. Assist with paving operations by operating paving machines and related equipment to ensure smooth road surfaces. Conduct routine inspections of machinery before and after use; perform basic maintenance or report issues promptly to ensure optimal performance. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and team members. Collaborate with project managers and team members to coordinate equipment usage and site activities efficiently. Maintain accurate logs of equipment operation hours, materials transported, and work completed for reporting purposes. Requirements Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment including excavators (Caterpillar preferred), dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, horizontal drills, tankers, and paving machinery. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience driving dump trucks and other large vehicles is essential. Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic maintenance tasks. Construction site experience demonstrating familiarity with safety standards and operational procedures. Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, or site plans as needed for precise operation. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude to coordinate effectively on busy job sites. Physical stamina to handle long hours of operation in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions. Join us in building the future!
