Duties Help As aHEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT
MECHANIC-Title 32, WG-5803-11, you will serve as shop chief over a small organizional segment in a maintenance function with responsibility for the overall shop operion. One or more employees who perform work in the Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, WG-5803-10,occupion are assigned to the shop.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(1) Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded mechanic(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines approprie maintenance procedures. Estimes time, equipment and merial requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. (2) Implements safety regulory requirements. Ensures th other workers in the shop wear approprie safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. (3) Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions, inspections, mobilizion and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operion, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with nural disasters or civil emergencies. : To qualify for theWG-5803-11
level, you must possess least 18 months of experience or training leading to an extensive knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operion, and working relionships of complex interconnecting systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of comb, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify interconnected complex systems on a variety of comb, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Extensive knowledge of ste of the art electrical, electronic, complex hydraulic, pneumic, and other major non-mechanical systems th have a functional relionship and effect on the operion of major mechanical systems. Extensive knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumic, electrical, and electronic controls. Skill and knowledge to develop or improvise methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines (such as modifying parts to fit and mesh into systems for which the parts were not designed); improvise modificions to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions; and design modificions to meet special test requirements or other special needs.
