HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT

MECHANIC, WG-5803-10, is to maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, modify, and inspect heavy mobile equipment, various support equipment, and special purpose vehicles such as; fuel dispensing trucks, refueling equipment, crash/structural firefighting equipment and pump trucks, forklifts, meriel handling, aircraft cargo loaders, aircraft and equipment tow tractors, large runway snow removal vehicles, aircraft de-icing equipment, sweepers, bulldozers, mobile cranes, road graders, heavy construction and earth moving vehicles, backhoes, front end loaders, excavors, trenchers, and tactical/armored protected vehicles. The equipment may be commercial or military designed with diesel, gasoline, electric, hybrid electric, or other alternive fuel power and may have multiple engines. The work requires knowledge of how heavy duty machinery, engines, parts, and systems work; ability to detect faulty items, determine causes of malfunction, and determine best repair methods; and skill to assemble, disassemble, repair, rebuild or modify components and a variety of interconnected systems. Repairs include; integred electrical, electronics, air, fuel, and hydraulic systems; complex ste-of-the-art electrical and electronic systems requiring specialized scan/diagnostic equipment to identify malfunctions or to determine replacement of standard and computer controlled components. Qualificions General Experience:

Must possess experience or training th has provides you with the skill to make repairs or the ability to assist with repairs th can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts.

Must have least 18 months experience or training leading to a thorough knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operion, and working relionships of complex systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of comb, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment; Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify a variety of comb, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment; Knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumic, and other non-mechanical systems th have a functional relionship and effect on the operion of mechanical systems; Knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumic, electrical, and electronic controls; Basic knowledge of electronics, sufficient to identify and replace defective components, such as sensors, diodes, and circuit boards; Ability to repair or overhaul major components such as diesel, multi-fuel or gasoline engines, turbine engines, automic and manual transmissions, drive line assemblies, electrical and electronic systems and accessories, fuel injection systems, and emission control systems.
