High School Agriscience Teacher / FFA Advisor 4900 Stanton Boulevard, Montague, MI 49437
Full-time Full-time Job Summary:
Montague Area Public Schools is seeking an Agriscience Teacher at MHS to be an integral part of the hands-on agricultural education program. This individual creates engaging learning opportunities that prepare students for careers in agriculture, skilled trades, and related industries while fostering leadership, teamwork, and career readiness through classroom instruction, greenhouse operations, barn management, land lab experiences, and experiential learning. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality instruction, supporting program growth, assessing student progress, and building partnerships with local businesses, agricultural organizations, and community members to create a positive, student-centered environment where students can thrive in and beyond the classroom.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree from accredited college or university Must possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with at least one of the following endorsements. (HX, DI, DA, VA) Must either possess a Standard Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certificate, CTE Endorsement, or meet the requirements for an Annual Career Authorization (ACA) in Applied Horticulture and Horticulture Operations or Agriculture Science and Natural Resources; or willingness to obtain
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging instructional plans, materials, and hands-on learning experiences aligned with curriculum goals, industry standards, and diverse student needs. Assess and monitor student academic and behavioral progress, using performance data and assessments to inform instruction and support student growth. Promote leadership, personal development, and career readiness through active participation in FFA and agricultural education activities. Serve as advisor to the FFA chapter, including supervision of chapter activities, leadership events, competitions, conventions, and extended learning opportunities during the school year and summer months. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and consistent attendance Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by administration
