• Position is contingent upon having 15 student-athlete participants Pending Employment Criminal Background Check Drug Test The High School Assistant Girls Basketball Coach will support the head coach in developing player skills, implementing game strategies, and managing team operations.

Key duties include leading practices, scouting opponents, monitoring academic eligibility, ensuring player safety, and fostering a positive, disciplined team culture.

Key Responsibilities and Duties Instruction & Training:

Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, techniques, and strategies during practices and games.

Game Management:

Assist with in-game coaching, such as tracking fouls, timeouts, and substituting players, while analyzing opponent weaknesses.

Administrative Tasks:

Maintain inventory of equipment and uniforms, assist with travel arrangements, and ensure compliance with school and state athletic association (e.g., WVSSAC) regulations. Attend all home and away games.

Player Development & Welfare:

Monitor student-athlete academic progress, provide mentorship, and uphold safety precautions to prevent injury.

Program Support:

Promote the team within the community, communicate with parents, assist with recruitment, and support the head coach's philosophy.

Qualifications Certifications:

Valid state coaching certification (e.g., West Virginia Department of Education) and completion of all required WVSSAC coursework.

Experience:

Previous coaching or playing experience (e.g., high school or collegiate) preferred.

Knowledge:

Demonstrated understanding of basketball rules, techniques, and safety protocols.
