High School Principal Job Description Purpose:
The High School Principal is the educational leader of the school and assumes the responsibility of promoting safety, providing equity and access to the curriculum, expecting academic success for all students, and allocating and managing resources to support instructional and student growth.

Building Assistant Principals, Athletic/Activities Director, Certified and Classified staff.
FLSA Status:
Exempt, salaried
Salary:
starting $95,000-$105,000 per year; year-round contact commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution in education, educational leadership, or a related field Valid Kansas Teaching Certification with building-level leadership/administrator endorsements. Demonstrates written communications, oral presentation, and program planning and organization skills. Experience working with the public and communicational media in providing information and interpreting programs. Effectively present information and respond to questions, inquiries, and/or complaints. Able to read, analyze, process, and interpret data independently. Hold a high level of integrity and confidentiality. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable. Valid state driver's license. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made).
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Kansas Teaching Certification with district-level leadership/administrator endorsements. Minimum of three (3) years of successful building-level administrator or equivalent experience. Successful experience working with K-12 student behaviors in special education and general education. Knowledge of Kansas Department of Education Guidelines related to student attendance, discipline, and social-emotional learning.
Essential Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Supervises and evaluates certified staff, ensuring the proper elements of instruction are implemented; coordinates teacher supervision and evaluation processes with the assistant principal. Evaluates assistant principal(s) and the activities/athletics director. Supervises clerical, paraprofessional, and other support staff within the buildings. Workes in collaboration with the facilities department for custodial, grounds, and maintenance needs. Manages and allocates the building and athletics/activities budgets both for the district funds and student activity funds. Assists in the hiring process for all classified and certified staff within the building. Manages and provides training to staff in the areas of school safety and security processes including crisis management procedures. Respond to and resolve complaints and grievances of students, staff, and parents. Develops building objectives and procedures to facilitate the delivery of programs, student discipline, scheduling and recordskeeping. Leads high standard implementation process, including curriculum development, standard assessment, recordkeeping, and reporting in alignment with all federal, state, and district policies/procedures. Supervision of before and afterschool activities/athletics events, both on and off site. Manages field trips, out-of state trips, and related transportation requests. Will need to travel using personal transportation. Regular and consistent attendance at work. General Responsibilities Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and demonstrates a commitment to teamwork. Reacts positively under pressure, handles and balances multiple demands at one time, and performs duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism. Conducts themself with integrity and always demonstrates ethical behavior and a positive leadership model. Manages and oversees all advisory groups, including teachers, staff, parent and student groups. Works to promote a harassment-free environment for students, staff, and parents. Complies with all federal, state, and district policies and procedures. Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences. Keeps informed of professional practices in the field through participation in pertinent professional organizations. Other duties as assigned by district administration.

Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead. Requires physical exertion to manually lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials up to 25 pounds. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.
Terms of Employment:
At-will employment. 12-Month 260 Day Administrative Contract
Evaluation:
Performance evaluations in accordance with the Board's policy and the Administrative Employee Handbook.
