The Huron Valley Schools is seeking an energetic, effective and positive Principal who is responsible for providing instructional leadership to staff including: curriculum planning, review and implementation; and professional development. Responsible for day-to-day building administration and the safety and welfare of both students, staff and activities. Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate. Possess a minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in teaching. A Master's degree with a minimum of eighteen (18) hours in school administration and additional hours in supervision and curriculum is preferred. Must hold or be eligible to meet Michigan Administration Certification requirements as mandated by currently holding a valid Michigan Administrator Certificate or enrolled in a program leading to certification as a school administrator not later than six months after beginning employment as an administrator. Evidence of ability to provide instructional leadership through: o Knowledge and application of research on school and teacher effectiveness o Understanding of human growth, development and learning theory o Skill in utilizing data to enhance teaching and learning o Excellent knowledge of whole child education and social emotional learning o Skill in fostering strong parent-school partnerships o Skill in fostering professional growth in staff o Excellent written and verbal communication o Exceptional group leadership and team management skills o Group leadership and team management skills. o Knowledge of secondary curriculum, assessment, and best instructional practices Demonstrated qualities of professional leadership among teachers, parents, and students. Excellent depth of knowledge related to collaborative meeting structures (PLC's). Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assume responsibility for management and instructional leadership of the school. Assume responsibility for developing and implementing the school improvement process within the framework of the district plan and aligned with the professional learning community model. Assume leadership for facilitating continuous program development within the building unit consistent with the district mission statement, student profile, and core curriculum. Assume responsibility for a continuous program of staff development consistent with the building school improvement plan and the district's strategic plan. Establish an effective communication system between home and school which includes the building school improvement plan, goals, programs, and student progress. Provide a continuous program of supervision and evaluation of all building staff consistent with the district program and state tenure law. Assist in selection, assignment and orientation of staff. Develop a school culture where the staff, students, and parents see themselves as a professional learning community dedicated to the success of each and every student. Maintain a budget for the building, allocating resources to achieve program goals. Administer a program of student support, discipline and supervision, establishing a culture of high expectations for both academics and behavior. Lead in the development, supervision, and evaluation of instructional and staff development programs by closely monitoring teaching practices to ensure rigor and best practice is occurring in all classrooms. Use a systematic program of visitation, evaluation, and conferencing to provide clear and consistent direction for all staff. Design opportunities to empower students, staff, and parents to be integrally involved in all aspects of the school's culture and climate. Promote and support staff initiative, innovation, and self-improvement. Be flexible in implementing and managing change. Commit to high visibility and daily communication with all stakeholders using multiple forms of communication. Collaborate with staff in implementing and evaluating the instructional program based on student achievement. Analyze and share student data and educational research as the foundational principles of professional learning communities. Assist and implement strategies for increasing student achievement. Provide appropriate and effective intervention for both individual students and groups of students. Assist in the preparation of the master schedule consistent with district high school guidelines and which provide students with a full range of curricular offerings. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Technology. EDUCATION and/orEXPERIENCE
Master's Degree or higher.LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS
