Home Energy Field Assessor

THE MISSION
The Home Energy Field Assessor plays a pivotal role in supporting the Weatherization Assistance Program across a twelve-county service area. This leadership position is responsible for the coordination and delivery of comprehensive energy services, ensuring full compliance with federal and state mandates, and all grant-related requirements. The Home Energy Field Assessor also collaborates with department heads to monitor program performance, and regulatory obligations, while managing the audit function with precision and integrity.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE
An Associate Degree in Business or Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that aligns with the responsibilities of the role. Certification as a Home Energy Professional - Home Energy Field Assessor from the Building Performance Institute (BPI)-Preferred. Certification can be obtained after hire. General office experience supporting administrative and operational functions within a program environment, including routine office procedures, documentation, and coordination of daily activities. Solid knowledge of building construction principles, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, along with familiarity with standard tools, materials, and trade practices. Proven ability to maintain accurate records and generate detailed reports to support compliance and operational efficiency. Technological proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and specialized platforms such as LITT Systems. A valid South Carolina driver's license, enabling fieldwork and site visits as required. Demonstrated strength in leadership, critical analysis, and organizational effectiveness. Proficiency in database management and accounting software applications. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clarity, professionalism, and effective collaboration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, entering confined spaces, and crawling, and that may include the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds with assistance). Work environments occasionally include uneven surfaces, dirty and dusty conditions, and heights, which may be accessible only by ladder or scaffolding. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, reach above shoulders, and climb and is occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required.
A SHAPSHOT OF EXCITING THINGS YOU WILL DO
As an Home Energy Field Assessor , your responsibilities will include:
Eligibility and Documentation Oversight:
Reviewing household documentation to verify client eligibility for services, maintaining meticulous records in line with program guidelines, and completing application forms for qualified applicants.
Client Engagement and Site Audits:
Initiating contact with clients prior to home visits, providing respectful and professional service, addressing questions or concerns, and clearly communicating any health or safety issues identified during audits. You will conduct detailed energy assessments, including pre- and post-diagnostic testing, cost estimations for materials and labor, and authorize final work orders.
Data Management and Reporting:
Entering and maintaining client data using LITT software systems. You will support the Weatherization Director with site monitoring and conduct final inspection certifications.
Quality Assurance:
Accurately complete home assessments, diagnostics, and audit software. You will identify key measures and develop strategies to enhance housing performance, while conducting reviews of all client files to ensure compliance and completeness.
Other Duties:
Performing additional responsibilities as assigned by the Weatherization Director.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Primarily office-based with occasional in- and out-of-state travel. Participation in training and professional development is expected and encouraged. Fifty percent of work time is spent in the field.
