RISK OF EXPOSURE TO BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS - HIGH POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Follows the Individual Plan of Care to help the consumer to maintain good personal hygiene and maintain a healthful, safe environment, is to perform ONLY those functions specified for each individual consumer Receives written instructions from the supervisor Has knowledge of Agency policies and procedures Is trained in CPR and first aid within 3 months of hire Is oriented and trained in all aspects of services to be provided to consumers If able to demonstrate competency in all areas of training for personal services Assists and instructs persons at home because of illness, incapacity or absence of a caretaker relative in managing and maintaining a household, dressing, feeding and incidental household tasks Will assist consumers with the following activities: a. Hygiene and Grooming b. Individual Bowel and Bladder Care c. Meal Preparation and Assistance d. Eating e. Household Services and Support Services (Light Housekeeping, Laundry, Errands) f. Supportive Mobility Assistance g. Hauling and Heating Water h. Shopping Reports any change in the consumer's mental or physical condition or in the home situation to his/her immediate supervisor or Agency Manager

JOB CONDITIONS

The ability to drive and the ability to access consumers' homes which may not be routinely wheelchair accessible are required Hearing, eyesight and physical dexterity must be sufficient to perform a physical assessment of the consumer's condition and to perform consumer services HHA Job Description On occasion, may be required to bend, stoop, reach and move consumer weight up to 250 pounds; lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; understand and carry out directions and instructions, record messages and keep simple records

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of at least the ninth grade. Preferably a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be in good physical health; free from health problems that may be injurious to consumer, self and co- workers. Must comprehend the basics of personal services, housekeeping and meal preparation. Must understand and respect consumer's rights including ethics and confidentiality of care and have a sympathetic attitude toward providing services for consumers at home whom have medical problems. Must have maturity, emotional and mental stability and experience in personal services or homemaking.
