Immediate About the Role We are seeking two dedicated, compassionate, and physically capable Caregivers to provide in home care for a family member living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), managing light housekeeping duties, and providing emotional support in a private home setting. Important Note onOnboarding:
All selected candidates will undergo a mandatory 2-week paid trial and training period . During this time, you will shadow our existing care team, learn specific care protocols (including PEG tube feeding and transfer techniques), and demonstrate your ability to meet the physical and interpersonal requirements of the role. Successful completion of this period is required for permanent placement. This is a direct-hire position. Key Responsibilities 1. Personal Care & Mobility (Primary Focus)Mobility Assistance:
Safely assist the resident in transferring from bed to wheelchair and vice versa using Sit-to-Stand or Hoyer lifts as required. Must be capable of manually lifting up to 120 lbs and assisting with weight-shifting to prevent pressure sores. Experience operating mechanical lifts is a strong plus, but willingness to learn is essential.Hygiene:
Assist with bathing, grooming, oral care, and dressing.Toileting:
Assist with restroom use, incontinence care, and catheter management if applicable.Feeding:
Assist with meal consumption, including preparation of meals using provided recipes and administration of feeding via PEG tube (training provided during the 2-week trial).Medication Management:
Assist with prompting and administering medications as prescribed (strict adherence to schedules is mandatory). 2. Household Maintenance (Light Housekeeping)Laundry:
Washing, drying, folding, and putting away linens and clothing.Kitchen:
Dishwashing, sanitizing countertops, and preparing meals according to specific dietary recipes.Cleaning:
Sweeping, mopping, dusting, and general tidying of living areas.Bathroom Sanitation:
Deep cleaning of bathrooms to maintain hygiene standards.General:
Any other reasonable household tasks required to maintain a safe and clean environment for the resident. 3. Additional Duties Monitoring the resident's condition and reporting changes to the family. Providing companionship and emotional support. Adhering to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.Qualifications & Requirements Physical Ability:
Mandatory. Must be able to lift 120 lbs and physically assist a resident in shifting positions.Experience:
Previous experience with ALS, stroke, or mobility-impaired patients is highly preferred. Certifications (Preferred but Not Required): CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) QNA (Qualified Nursing Assistant) RNA (Registered Nursing Assistant)Note:
Candidates without these certifications are welcome to apply; pay will be adjusted based on experience.Equipment Proficiency:
Experience with Sit-to-Stand lifts or Hoyer lifts is a strong plus but not required (willingness to learn is essential).Reliability:
Must be punctual, trustworthy, and able to commit to the agreed-upon schedule.Background:
Must pass a background check and drug screening.Compensation & Benefits Hourly Rate:
$24.00/hr base. Up to $30.00/hr for candidates with relevant certifications (CNA/QNA/RNA), specialized ALS experience, or advanced schooling.Trial Period:
A 2-week paid trial and training period is required for all hires. This period is fully compensated at the agreed hourly rate.Benefits:
This is a contract/part-time position and does not include paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, or vision insurance.Schedule:
We are hiring for two individuals to cover approximately 70 hours weekly. Shifts can be arranged to fit your availability (e.g., day shifts, evening shifts, overnight).
