Homeschool Enrichment Program -Learning Through Doing

Universal Language Academy is a start-up homeschool enrichment school funded by public funding. It is a K-12 school that utilizes best practices in education models to give students the best chance of learning and retaining skills that will form the foundation for success as adults. Some of the best practices include: Mastery Driven online coursework with teacher mentoring in the core subjects of reading, writing and math. This allows each student to learn at their own pace. Music is a core subject, and every student will learn an instrument of their choice. Music combines arts, language, math and engineering skills. Project based learning that combines the arts with science, technology, engineering and math. The project-based learning will allow students to work together as a multi-age team to learn through doing. Experiential learning has a proven track record of engaging students and helping them to learn complex subjects. Book club is a way of engaging students in stories that encompass history, culture, government, philosophy, religion, geography, sociology, psychology and economics. Students learn how to debate in constructive ways and learn the value of a diversity of opinions and feelings about the variety of subjects they learn. Cooking is a way of teaching children to care for themselves and others. Students will create the menu, and make and serve the food. They will learn mathematics, culture, botany, health, science, geography, and art. Monday-8am-4pm for K-5 grades Tuesday-8am-4pm for 6-12 grades We are looking for teachers who embrace this type of education and see themselves in the role of teacher as well as a mentor. We want a teacher who is a passionate learner and able to impart knowledge in a way that connects with students Must have teaching license in the state of Colorado.
