Honda Service Advisor — Putnam Honda San Carlos About Us Putnam Family Dealerships has served the San Francisco Peninsula since 1965. What started as a single store in Burlingame has grown into one of the Bay Area's most respected multi-brand dealer groups, with Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Mazda, Kia, Volvo, VW, Chevrolet/GMC, and CDJR stores. Putnam Honda in San Carlos is a cornerstone of our group, known for long-tenured staff, repeat customers across generations, and a service department that operates to Honda's highest standards. The Role We're hiring a Service Advisor to join the team at Putnam Honda San Carlos. This is a front-line, customer-facing role responsible for guiding owners through their service experience — from write-up through delivery — while protecting gross profit, CSI, and the customer relationship that brings them back next time. What You'll Do Greet customers, perform thorough walk-arounds, and write accurate, complete repair orders Present factory-recommended maintenance, Putnam service packages (Bronze/Silver/Gold tiers), and à la carte add-ons in a professional, no-pressure manner Communicate clearly with technicians and the shop foreman on diagnostic findings and additional work needed Keep customers informed throughout the day with timely status updates by phone, text, or video Review completed work with customers at delivery, explain charges, and answer questions Resolve concerns with empathy and judgment, escalating to the service manager or AJ Vasquez Jr. when appropriate Maintain compliance with Honda warranty policy, BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) regulations, DMV requirements, and CARB standards Hit individual targets for hours per RO, effective labor rate, and CSI What You Bring 2+ years of automotive service advisor experience (Honda or import franchise strongly preferred) Working knowledge of factory maintenance schedules, warranty guidelines, and California consumer protection requirements Comfort with dealership DMS platforms (Reynolds, CDK, or Tekion experience a plus) Strong written and verbal communication — you can explain a brake job to a first-time owner and a transmission concern to a long-time enthusiast with equal clarity A clean DMV record and valid California driver's license Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus Why Putnam Competitive pay plan with performance-based commission and bonuses Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off Long-tenured leadership and a service team that supports each other Stable, family-owned group with 60 years of Peninsula roots and continued investment in the business Real opportunity to grow into senior advisor, assistant service manager, or service manager roles across the group Putnam Family Dealerships is an equal opportunity employer.
