Job Description
Machining company in Denver, PA is looking for a Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM) Operator on 1st shift. This is a third generation, family owned company that truly values their employees. 1st shift: 6am - 4:30pm Monday - Thursday (optional overtime available on Fridays and Saturdays)
Pay Range:
$25/hr and up depending on experience Job Description This role operates, sets up, and maintains horizontal boring mill machines to produce precision components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. You apply advanced shop math and machining knowledge to perform a wide range of operations, including milling, drilling, boring, threading, and tapping, while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. Responsibilities Set up and run all horizontal boring mill machines in the facility in accordance with job requirements and training documentation. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements. Select appropriate cutting tools and work holding methods for various operations, including face milling, end milling, threading, drilling, boring, tapping, gun drilling, and trepanning. Determine and adjust cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cut to achieve optimal machining performance and surface finish. Install cutters correctly and ensure guards and safety devices are in proper position before operating the machine. Use dial indicators and other precision tools to set up boring mill operations and accurately align workpieces. Load and unload parts from the machine, using lifting aids such as cranes and straps when necessary. Gauge and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other measuring equipment to verify conformance to specifications. Operate machinery only within the scope of your training and in accordance with established procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating a vertical knee mill (such as a Bridgeport) is highly transferable and considered strong preparation for horizontal boring mill work. Experience with CNC horizontal boring mills combined with prior manual machining experience is beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically when adjusting setups and resolving machining challenges. Attention to detail and a strong focus on producing high-quality, precise components. Experience performing basic machine maintenance to keep equipment running reliably. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
