Hospice Music Therapist

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and compassionate Hospice Music Therapist to join our dedicated healthcare team. Duties Develop and implement personalized music therapy plans that address physical, emotional, and psychological needs of hospice patients. Conduct individual and group music therapy sessions utilizing techniques such as behavioral therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and recreational therapy. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including medical staff, social workers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Document patient progress and session details accurately in medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Adapt therapeutic approaches for diverse populations, including children, individuals with autism or developmental disabilities, dementia care patients, and those with disabilities or mental health conditions. Provide training and support to caregivers on integrating music therapy techniques into daily routines. Maintain a safe and respectful environment that promotes patient dignity and comfort throughout all therapeutic activities. Requirements Bachelor's or higher degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program; certification as a Board-Certified Music Therapist (CBMT) preferred. Experience working with hospice care patients or in palliative settings is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles, dementia care, autism spectrum disorders, pediatrics, addiction counseling, and mental health counseling. Proficiency in medical documentation practices and maintaining HIPAA-compliant medical records. Ability to design engaging individual and group therapy sessions tailored to diverse patient needs. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and families. Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural differences and commitment to providing compassionate patient care in outpatient or home-based environments.
