Job Description
Tennis Pro Shop Sales Associate Position Summary:
The Tennis Pro Shop Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to members and guests while supporting the daily operations of the Tennis Pro Shop. This position serves as the first point of contact for members, assisting with retail sales, court reservations, program registrations, and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked shop. The ideal candidate is friendly, professional, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering an outstanding member experience. Essential Responsibilities- Greet members and guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
- Process retail sales accurately using the club's point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Assist members with merchandise selection, including tennis apparel, racquets, accessories, and equipment.
- Answer telephone calls, emails, and member inquiries regarding tennis programs, clinics, lessons, and events.
- Schedule court reservations, private lessons, and program registrations.
- Maintain accurate inventory, receive shipments, stock merchandise, and assist with inventory counts.
- Ensure merchandise displays are attractive, organized, and properly labeled.
- Keep the Pro Shop clean, organized, and presentable always.
- Assist with tournament and event registrations, scoring, check-in, and event setup as needed.
- Promote club events, merchandise, and tennis programming to increase member participation and sales.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of current merchandise, promotions, and tennis equipment trends.
- Follow all club policies, safety standards, and member service expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications
- Previous retail, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
- Tennis knowledge or playing experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with POS systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude. Required Certifications
- Current Responsible Vendor (Bar Card/Alcohol Server Permit) is required prior to serving or selling alcoholic beverages.
- Food Handler Certification, if required by state or local regulations.
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform light stocking duties.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Schedule Requirements
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by club operations.
- Flexible schedule during tournaments, special events, and peak tennis season.
