Job Description
Develops, implements, plans, schedules, monitors, and supervises more complex department-specific programs; monitors compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to specific projects; performs other duties as assigned. The hiring salary for this position is $73,986 - $77,792 annually; full salary range for this position is $66,102 - $113,734 annually. Develop, implement, plan, schedule, monitor, and supervise large and complex department-specific programs; Monitor compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to specific programs; Monitor performance of assigned staff relative to the program; Prepare relevant correspondence and reports using Microsoft Office and recreation registration software; Liaison with local, regional, and state organizations related to the program; Perform fiscal planning and management for the assigned program and monitor grant allocations; Responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of a gymnastics facility featuring a competitive USAG team, recreational classes, wellness/fitness rooms and an indoor pickleball court. Focus on initiatives and programming for gymnastics and leisure activities, various special events including the department's annual Summerstock theater performance; and work as a team member for special events in the County several times a year. Must determine program needs; plan; recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff and contractors to instruct or direct the programs; and ensure that programs are self-supporting and meet the needs and desires of the community Plan, prepare and adhere to program budgets in the execution of programming Promote and publicize programs, coordinate and schedules facilities and develop a financial accountability system. Coordinate over 500 youth and adult recreation classes, programs, summer camps, activities and special events annually. Perform other duties as assigned. Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures; Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary's County Government to the public; Expert knowledge of department practices and procedures and of the practices, procedures, and concepts of the assigned programs; Knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations relative to the operations of specific projects and programs; Ability to effectively communicate with other staff members; Ability to effectively monitor staff performance; Ability to develop, implement, prioritize, and coordinate program-related activities; Ability to use available resources to research information; Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records; Ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software. Bachelor's degree; Five years or more of related experience; Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional desired
