DIRECTOR OF STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
Phyx Performance — Troy, Michigan Position Overview Phyx Performance is seeking an experienced Director of Strength & Conditioning to lead the Sports Performance program at our Troy location. Phyx Troy serves nationally competitive organizations, including Oakland Junior Grizzlies, Total Package Hockey (TPH), and additional AAA hockey programs. The facility also trains high school, youth, collegiate, junior, and professional athletes, including more than 100 collegiate, junior, and professional athletes each summer. This hands-on leadership role will oversee programming, coaching standards, staff development, and continued growth of the Phyx Sports Performance system. Primary Responsibilities Sports Performance Leadership Lead the daily operation and continued development of the Troy Sports Performance program. Coach athletes across youth, high school, junior, collegiate, and professional levels. Maintain high standards of coaching, professionalism, communication, and athlete experience. Programming & Athlete Development Design and oversee individualized and group strength and conditioning programs. Develop athletes through strength, speed, power, mobility, conditioning, and durability training. Adjust programming based on age, experience, sport, competition schedule, injury history, and goals. Team & Organizational Training Oversee training services for AAA hockey programs and other organizational partners. Coordinate team programming, schedules, and training standards. Communicate effectively with coaches, directors, parents, and organizational leadership. Staff Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop the Troy Sports Performance coaching staff. Establish coaching expectations and maintain accountability to Phyx standards. Support staff recruiting, onboarding, education, and continued professional development. Facility & Program Operations Work with ownership and management to support the growth of the Troy location. Assist with scheduling, seasonal planning, training-floor logistics, and program organization. Maintain a safe, organized, energetic environment while improving athlete experience, retention, and referrals. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to lead people and command a training floor. We are looking for someone who: Has significant experience coaching competitive athletes across multiple developmental levels. Communicates effectively, builds strong relationships, and can manage individual athletes and large groups. Is organized, dependable, accountable, collaborative, and committed to continued professional development. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength & Conditioning, or a related field. CSCS, SCCC, or comparable nationally recognized certification, plus CPR/AED certification. Collegiate, professional, private-sector, hockey, or high-level sports performance experience, with prior leadership or management experience preferred. What Makes This Position Different This is an opportunity to lead an established, high-level Sports Performance program—not build a clientele from scratch. Phyx Troy works with nationally competitive hockey organizations, AAA programs, high school and youth athletes, and more than 100 collegiate, junior, and professional athletes each summer. The successful candidate will help make an already strong program better by developing athletes, coaches, relationships, and the overall training environment. Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
