Gymnastics Assistants - Recreation Class Program Arlington County, VA - 3.9 Arlington, VA Job Details Part-time 8 hours ago Qualifications First aid and CPR Full Job Description The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking multiple temporary Gymnastics Assistants to assist Instructors and work with children of all ages, adults, and instructors in our Gymnastics Program . These roles serve across our program assisting the Recreation Class programs. Candidates in these roles assist in serving Arlington County's community by offering safe, fun, and quality gymnastics classes for all. Join our well-known and amazing team! Our successful, well-established program offers gymnastics to both boys and girls, from parent-tot classes, through preschool and higher-level classes based on the USA Gymnastics (USAG) programs. Specialty programs include camps, birthday parties, special events, teen classes, adapted classes, and adult classes. Arlington Gymnastics also offers USA Gymnastics Xcel competitive teams and USAG Development Program competitive teams for boys and girls.
Specific Tasks Include:
Assisting instructors and programmers with supervision of athletes during gymnastics practices, preparing for practices, and implementing lesson plans and curriculum; Setting up equipment prior to practices, securing equipment afterward, and assisting athletes with proper equipment usage; Participating in practices by engaging athletes; Performing administrative activities and attending staff meetings; and Performing other job-related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have the ability to assist with intermediate to upper-level youth and adult classes. Concepts taught throughout the course are moderately complex and require considerable technical experience.
Minimum :
Some experience with gymnastics or administering recreational programs. Gymnastics experience may come from a variety of sources, such as work, volunteering or formal athletic participation.
Substitutions:
Additional education may be substituted for experience. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
Desirables :
Preference may be given to candidates the following: Involvement in a competitive or recreational gymnastics program as an athlete; Coaching or teaching gymnastics; USA Gymnastics Competitive Coach, USA Gymnastics Recreational Coach, First Aid, CPR certifications and/or other gymnastics certifications; and/or Working with children of all ages. Special Requirements A complete application will include an attached resume which highlights how your background and experience align with the qualifications for this position. Selected candidates must possess or obtain Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED Certification, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire. A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment, which may include the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.
Additional Information Work Hours:
Multiple shifts, Will work between 15 - 30 hours a week. Most hours are weekday evenings and weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Weekday evenings (4:00pm-8:30pm) and Weekends (
Saturday:
8:30am-6:00pm and
Sunday:
12:00pm-7:00pm).
Please note:
This Gymnastics position is classified under the Recreation Class program; however, it functions as a hybrid role. Incumbents may be required, with little or no advance notice, to perform Competitive Gymnastics duties in addition to Recreation Class responsibilities for an indefinite period of time
