  • Webster is seeking a skilled and energetic Basketball Player Development Specialist to lead high-quality, basketball-specific training beginner, intermediate, and advanced athletes between the ages 8-18.
This role is focused exclusively on on-court skill development —helping athletes improve their ball handling, shooting, footwork, scoring ability, and basketball IQ through structured, high-repetition, game-realistic training sessions. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing players, understands how to teach the game, and can create a competitive, engaging training environment that drives measurable improvement. Key ResponsibilitiesBasketball Skill Development Design and lead basketball-specific training sessions focused on: Ball handling (control, creativity, pressure handling) Shooting mechanics (form, consistency, range) Footwork (pivoting, jab steps, finishing angles) Scoring moves (1v1 creation, finishing through contact) Teach proper technique with attention to detail and correction Progress athletes through skill levels (beginner → advanced) Game Application & Basketball IQ Incorporate live decision-making into training: 1v1, 2v2, and small-sided games Read-and-react drills Situational basketball (spacing, timing, shot selection) Teach athletes how to translate skills into game performance Reinforce fundamentals within a game-speed environment Session Leadership & Environment Lead structured, organized, and high-energy sessions Maintain a competitive, positive, and disciplined training atmosphere Ensure high repetition and minimal downtime in sessions Adjust drills and coaching style based on athlete age and ability Athlete & Parent Engagement Build strong relationships with athletes and parents Provide feedback on athlete progress and development areas Communicate clearly and professionally before and after sessions Contribute to a positive overall Redline experience Program Development Assist in building and executing: Basketball clinics Camps (seasonal, school breaks, summer) Small group training sessions Support internal basketball-focused events and showcases Trial & Membership Support Participate in trial sessions for new basketball athletes Demonstrate value through coaching, structure, and engagement Support staff in communicating athlete development pathways QualificationsRequired Basketball playing experience (high school minimum; college preferred) Experience coaching or training youth basketball athletes (ages 8-18) Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and skill progression Ability to teach, demonstrate, and correct skills effectively Preferred Collegiate or professional playing experience Prior experience as a basketball trainer or academy coach Track record of developing athletes over time Experience running camps, clinics, or group sessions Key Competencies Technical Expertise
