Job Description
Summary of Position:
The Baker supports the Executive Chef by preparing a range of desserts, pastries, breads and other baked goods for the Chartroom and Corner Store, using fixed recipes. The Baker helps develop and prepare the Chartroom's signature dessert menu, and interfaces with Sales to develop pastry options for Special Events. This position is expected to coordinate priorities effectively with the Executive Chef, including the ordering and receiving of baking supplies, and will be trained and able to fulfill the duties of Dishwasher/Prep 1 and Prep 2.
Essential Functions:
Support the Executive Chef by following his or her direction, by implementing LE standards within the kitchen and by participating within a professionally oriented culinary team. Produce desserts and all baked goods to Chartroom standards, with respect to cost, quality, image and appeal, in quantities that match demand. Perform side work, including cleaning, ordering, receiving, re-stocking and food preparation as directed.
Multi-task:
Able to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items proficiently.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Broad understanding of food handling and sanitation procedures. Will be expected to pass a kitchen sanitation test. Must have a ServSafe Certification or equivalent or acquire within 30 days of start. Ability to follow recipes and directions precisely. Internal customer orientation; ability to work within a team, in a faced-paced environment. Must be able to perform the duties of Prep Level 1, 2 and Dishwasher. Ability to stand for long periods of time; and to work with cleaning chemicals.
Qualifications:
Must be honest, responsible, have experience in bakery, and able to work under Land's End policies.
